All participants must be persons of color and at least 18 years of age but no older than 30 years of age by March 2012.
Participants can be licensed or unlicensed clergy.
All submissions must be received by The African American Lectionary no later than September 31, 2011 at 5 p.m. EST for publication in the fall 2011; no later than October 31, 2011 for winter 2011 publication; and no later than November 31, 2011 for spring 2012 publication.
For the fall and winter quarter we are focusing on: 1) Creative Youth Ministries, 2) Ministering to Youth with Mental Health Issues, 3) Responses to the Mass Incarceration Crisis, and 4) Responses to the Education Crisis. We are also accepting creative (artistic) pieces: poems and spoken word offerings.
Only one article, poem, or spoken word submission per person will be accepted.
Along with your submission, please send a brief biographical statement (no more than 2 sentences) and a recent color photograph. Please e-mail your material and photograph to:
Info@TheAfricanAmericanLectionary.org.
Articles, poems, or spoken word offerings cannot exceed 1,500 words in length. Please use size 12 font.
At the top of your material, please include your phone number and your complete contact information: mailing address and e-mail address.
Any material that you submit must be your original work and not previously published.
All quoted material must be properly cited. Do not embed footnotes; place all notes at the end of your document. Footnotes are considered embedded if they are automatically placed at the bottom of the same page on which the number for the footnote was entered.
As with all material submitted to The African American Lectionary, the editors may edit your work for conformity to house style and length.
Please be advised that we will notify only those persons whose material is selected for publication. All notifications will be made no later than 30 days after the due date for a particular publication period (fall, winter, spring, etc.). Articles will be placed on the website from October 2011 through the spring of 2013.
Persons will not be paid for having their articles, poems, or spoken word submissions selected and placed on the Lectionary website.
All materials submitted for use on the Lectionary website will become the property of The African American Lectionary.
