1. Litany
You’ve Touched Us
Lord, here we stand
—women from all walks of life. Trying to make our way…
Trying to press through the busyness of our daily lives:
Family, work, church, special projects, community work, and more special projects!
—all important and noble.
Heartbreak, struggles, pain, illness, abuse, stress
—facts of our lives for many of us.
…we are trying to get to you!
For all our efforts, when we have done all we can…
Been Wonder Woman -- Super Woman -- June-of-all-Trades -- Stretched-too-Thin -- Workin’ 9 to 9 -- Tired of being tired -- Queen of our castles -- Just trying to give our husbands some attention -- Super Mom -- Checking the homework -- At the PTA meetings -- In ten places at once -- Growing older and wiser -- One more usher board meeting to attend -- Trying to have family worship consistently -- Hoping to get to the gym today -- Looking after our aging parents -- Shoulder for others to cry on -- Worrying, and worrying some more -- Phenomenal Women…
Whew! We say, Lawd, have mercy!
You have used other women to show us your love. Women who cry with us. Women who struggle with us. Women who pray with and for us. Women who challenge us to faithfulness. Women who stand with us when people forsake us. Women who give Godly rebuke when we need it. Women who exhibit the fruit of the Spirit, and share your word boldly with us. Women whose passion and creativity inspire us. Women whose gentle spirit helps us pause to hear your still small voice. We thank you for the gift of women you have placed in our paths.
We look back and remember…
When that check came in the mail just in time to help us with some unexpected bill
When that girlfriend called just at the moment we wanted to give up
When we received some bad news from the doctor, and someone at church
who didn’t know our situation gave us a hug that conveyed
“I am here for you, if you ever need me.”
When our hearts were heavy, and a song we sang as a child came to
our remembrance with just the message needed to remind us of our Hope
When we were tired and help showed up without our calling
When we made a mistake, and people prayed with us instead of shunning us
…and with all of this and when we recognize that…
You’ve touched us, some kinda joy floods our souls!
