Worship Planning Notes
Rise in the presence of the aged, show respect for the elderly and revere your God. I am the Lord. —Leviticus 19:32, NIV
With clarity, Leviticus 19:32 expresses our Lord’s admonishment to show respect to our seniors. This honor is coupled with reverence for the Lord himself. To honor those who have molded us is to acknowledge God’s gift to us through their lives. In short, honoring our elders also shows reverence for God. Today, we gather to acknowledge those seniors, elders, and grandparents who have aided us individually and our community collectively.
1. Centering Prayer, Responsive Reading, and Litany
Centering Prayer
O God, of the many gifts you’ve bestowed upon us, we do cherish the gift of our elders, grandparents, and seniors. Their experience, their wisdom, and their example are priceless presents to us and we value the many ways they have enriched our lives. We humbly ask that your strength and grace continue to rest upon them. We honor them today and always. In your blessed name we do pray. Amen.
Responsive Reading
