Christian Education |
Leader: |
Christian education is our invitation to equip God’s people with the teachings of Jesus, who has commissioned us to go into all the world, making disciples, teaching them to observe all that he commanded. (See Matthew 28:19.) |
People: |
Help us, wise and omniscient God, to encourage men and women, boys and girls to seek to know you and to make known the gospel of your Son, Jesus Christ. |
Leader: |
Help us to nurture and instruct in the ways of the Lord, for that is the chief responsibility of the church and family. Grant us grace to fulfill this high calling. |
People: |
Beginning with the study of Holy Scripture, may we find one another exploring your love and justice in Sunday School, Vacation Bible School, Bible class, Christian higher education, and graduate theological education. |
Leader: |
Thank you, Lord, for all those who taught us your Word and lived a life which made your teachings real to us. We follow the example of Jesus Christ and seek to emulate these persons, who rightly taught us and lit the flame of excellence within us.
|
People: |
May the visual images that we use help us to imagine your omnipotence and to conform our likeness to you.
|
Leader: |
Teach us your ways, O Lord, that we may not lean to our own understanding, but rather trust in you. As we honor and worship you, teach us to respect one another. Help us to maintain a sound, disciplined mind and give us obedient, compassionate hearts. |
People: |
As we aspire to live more virtuous lives, help us to overcome ignorance, hesitancy, and compromise. Amen.
